BIKE HELMET PROGRAM

The Public Health Educator provides educational information on injury prevention, fitting of the bike helmet and instruction to the parent/guardian on how to fit the helmet.  Fulton County residents who wish to be fitted for a bike helmet may do so by making an appointment.

SAVED BY THE HELMET PROGRAM

When the Public Health Educator is notified that an individual escapes injury or death by wearing a bike helmet, they are encouraged to join the Saved By the Helmet Club.  As a member, an individual receives free membership, a personalized membership certificate and a t-shirt. This program is sponsored by NYS Department of Health’s Bureau of Injury Prevention, the Brain Injury Association of NYS, and the NYS Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

Other safety information is also available on topics such as trampolines, air bags, baby walkers and much more.  An environmental safety sheet is available to assess fire safety and general home safety.  These age-appropriate forms enable Fulton County Public Health to provide resources to meet individual safety needs.
