Supervisor BREH offered the following Resolution and moved its adoption:

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPLICATION AND ACCEPTANCE OF 2021-2023 NYS INDIGENT LEGAL SERVICES UPSTATE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT GRANT DISTRIBUTION NO. 11 (PUBLIC DEFENDER)

WHEREAS, Resolution 64 of 2015 authorized application and acceptance of “Upstate Quality Improvement Grant 5” from the NYS Office of Indigent Legal Services for 2015 through 2017; and

WHEREAS, Resolution 375 of 2018 authorized an Application and Acceptance of “Upstate Quality Improvement Grant 8” from the NYS Office of Indigent Legal Services for the period ending December 31, 2020; and

WHEREAS, said grants have not been fully expended by the Public Defender’s Office; and

WHEREAS, the Public Defender reports that the Public Defender’s Office is eligible for a new three-year Upstate Quality Improvement Grant (ILS Contract C800017: Distribution 11) for 2021 through 2023; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Chairman of the Board be and hereby is authorized to sign a contract extension with the New York State Office of Indigent Legal Services effective immediately through December 31, 2023 in an amount of $220,248.00, for “Quality Improvement and Caseload Reduction Grants (ILS Contract #C800017: Distribution 11); all other terms and aspects of said contract shall remain in full force and effect; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That the Public Defender do each and every other thing necessary to further the purport of this Resolution; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That certified copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the County Treasurer, Public Defender, Budget Director/County Auditor and Administrative Officer/Clerk of the Board.
