Fulton County - Employment



The Fulton County Board of Supervisors is accepting applications for the full-time position of Veterans’ Service Agency Director. This bureau head position of approximately 35 hours per week has responsibility for assisting veterans and their families in obtaining benefits through state and federal programs. This assistance extends to helping in readjustment to civilian life, veteran’s rights, and involves considerable coordination with other agencies. Good written communication skills are essential.

Minimum Qualifications Include:

  1. Two (2) years of business school, an associates degree or bachelors degree from a regionally accredited or New York State college or university and three (3) years of responsible business experience that included administration of employees and/or programs. Demonstrated experience in government and/or familiarity with veterans’ programs is preferred.

  2. In addition, a candidate for Director must be qualified as a Veteran, meaning that he/she shall have served in the United States armed forces during a designated time of war (WWII, Korean Conflict, Vietnam Conflict or Persian Gulf Conflict; or certain other hostilities). The service must have been active duty on a full-time basis.

  3. Any successful candidate must be willing to pursue and obtain agency accreditation as a Veterans Service Officer within 18 months from the date of appointment.

Annual Salary: $46,807.00 proceeding to $53,447.00 after one year.
