Medicaid is a program designed to help those unable to meet the cost of health care. Individuals may be eligible for Medicaid if they meet certain income, resource, age, disability and various other requirements.
Services covered include inpatient and outpatient hospital care, physician services, skilled nursing care, laboratory and X-ray services, early and periodic screening of children, home health care services and transportation services.
Individuals in receipt of Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible to receive Medicaid.

Medicaid can also cover the cost of nursing home placements.
Medicaid coverage for nursing home placements is termed Chronic Care benefits. Income and resource eligibility levels for Chronic Care are different from income and resource levels for other Medicaid programs.
An in-office interview is strongly recommended for this program due to the complexity and requirements of the program.
