People everywhere enjoy historic markers, from roadsides and parks to historic sites or even their own neighborhoods. According to The Historical Marker Database, there’s more than 172,000 markers in the United States, but many have not received cleaning or care for years.
This service-oriented event brings people and communities together to maintain their markers by cleaning them and providing an opportunity to celebrate and preserve history. The date is set annually but usually in April of every year. Local groups may schedule their own times.
Perhaps there are historical markers near where you live that could use a cleaning.
