National Country Music Day

The Country Music Deejay Association started National Country Music Day in the ‘50s to honor the father of country music, Jimmie Rodgers and it is always held on July 4th. 

Country music grew out of Appalachian folk music and expanded with radio play time in the 1920's and now has many subgenres and crossovers into other musical traditions. 

4th of July

The Fourth of July (also known as Independence Day or July 4th) has been a federal holiday in the United States since 1941, but the tradition of Independence Day celebrations goes back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. 

Ice Cream Soda Day

National Ice Cream Soda Day is celebrated every year on June 20. Americans all over the country enjoy their favorite dessert by trying out various flavors and making it in different styles. 

More than a few people have claimed to invent Ice Cream with Soda, but the loudest was Robert Green, who loudly claimed to be the inventor of the ice cream soda — and even had it inscribed on his tombstone.

Summer Solstice

The word Solstice comes from the Latin ‘solstitium’ meaning ‘Sun stands still’ because the movement of the Sun’s path north or south appears to stop before changing direction.

Flag Day

Since there was no official American flag, the colors and makeup of the various flags used are vague in the records of history. The American flag was first conceived as a protest against tyranny.

Father's Day

Father's Day is observed on the third Sunday of June. It honors all fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers, and father figures for their contribution. The Day was created to complement Mother's Day.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed every year on the last Monday in May.

It honors those who died serving in the United States military. In the United States, Memorial Day weekend kicks off the start of the summer season and with Labor Day weekend ending the summer.

Emergency Medical Services Week

Emergency medical services (EMS) Week, or EMS Week, was originally authorized by President Gerald Ford on November 4, 1974 for the week of November 3–10. Since 1992, EMS Week has moved to the third week of May.
